We are only doing new recipes this month! Not intentionally, but I did enough new ones and this is late enough in the month that you know what? It’ll balance out last month’s no new recipes at all.
New Recipes
Broccoli beef – You know, I had a different broccoli beef recipe saved in my recipe spreadsheet, but it was a slow cooker and The Woks of Life has never let me down, so I made this one in September and it was excellent. The previous recipe has been replaced in the spreadsheet.
Arroz con leche – I can never eat arroz con leche and I walk by it in the grocery store, prepared and ready to eat, on a weekly basis. So I made my own! This recipe was decent, though it made way more than we needed and I probably could have cooked it for a little less time.
Madeleines – This was the second time I’ve made these and they’re excellent. I’m lazy / impatient so I entirely skip the hours of refrigeration and go straight to baking them in the little pan. They’re adorable and this time, I dipped them in semi-sweet melted chocolate chips.
Apple cider braised pork shoulder – I haven’t made apple butter before and a happy side effect of this recipe is that I had to make my own, because my normal grocery store haunts didn’t have it and when I looked up the recipe, it seemed pretty reasonable. Both myself and my husband really enjoyed this recipe – it reminded us of some of the “fancy” pork chops we’ve had at nicer restaurants, except with cheap ingredients. Still delicious!
