Up and down, up and down, we tread a lot of the same ground this month without making much progress overall. This was also the continuation of my sabbatical and our two week trip to Europe, so another pricey month though this time cash dropped at the same time as the market. I was a little annoyed, initially, that I was going to miss a paycheck in the three paycheck month that July is (now that my job switched from semi-monthly to bi-weekly) but it’s timely since that means I won’t actually be short for the month, given that I budget for 2 paychecks per month.

So, cash down for obvious reasons, house still bouncing around just under $600k, and net worth down for those reasons. Retirement and invested assets was saved by me finally transferring another $1000 into my IRA, destined to be a backdoor Roth contribution once it clears, as I still haven’t maxed that out for this year. Now that our grand travels are over and we still have some money left over in vacation savings, our slush will be diverted to continue paying ourselves back for the car from last January (so close!), paying ourselves back for the hot water heater we bought a few months ago, and, after my IRA is fully maxed, rebuilding our home repair sinking fund. I should hit the Social Security maximum soon, which will give a little extra boost to my paychecks and help all that along. The better option would be my company stock getting out of the shitter, but that seems less likely at present.
