Not the most inspired month, I’ll admit. We did lots of the same repeats that I’ve already shared, plus some that don’t actually have an online recipe. Someday I’ll type out some of those, but not this month. Still, I tried to make sure to try a few new recipes along the way.

New Recipes

Andouille sausage and broccoli – This was just a bust. I was a little skeptical about it when I saw the recipe, and remained skeptical as I cooked it. This is essential a stir-fry, except the only stir-fry ingredients are garlic, Andouille sausage, and broccoli. You still end up steaming the broccoli without the sausage, so a lower calorie way of achieving this dish would be to steam broccoli with some Cajun seasoning, and then grill or pan-fry the sausages separately.

No-knead brioche – In contrast, this was not a bust. I wanted to try making a new type of bread, as I’m still churning out multiple loaves of sourdough every week, but I didn’t want to get out my KitchenAid mixer to make a brioche. The flavor of this was great and it turned out well even with my logistical challenges – I only have one loaf pan, so I kept the second loaf resting in a batard banneton while the first one baked.

Revisited Recipes

Burma chicken curry – We actually intended to put the second revisited recipe, chicken murgh kari, but ended up with Burma chicken curry due to mishap. We do love this recipe, though, and like many curries, it’s better as a leftover since the spices have more time to permeate everything.

Chicken murgh kari – This is a recipe my husband makes for us, and it’s always great. We do it with thighs instead of breasts, as those hold up better to microwaving on the second day.
