I was on a roll this month! We revisited several recipes, but most of them have featured on this post during recent prior months, so I’ll skip them here. I went on a flurry of baking again, with great results – maybe relatedly, my weight is up since last month, so I will be curtailing my baking again while I work that back off.

New Recipes

Peach cake – I bought some really nice peaches at the farmers market, and wanted something easy to feature them. This was a great option for that. It was super easy, and my daughter particularly loved the bright fruit mixed in with the sweet cake.

Sourdough discard Cheez Its – This recipe didn’t really make Cheez Its in the traditional sense, but it made a baked cheesy flat product that was tasty nonetheless. Even with five extra minutes of baking, it never really got crispy or crunchy, so we all just pulled off little chewy squares until it was gone.

Cottage cheese gnudi – I need to workshop this one more. I liked it fine, but it didn’t have nearly enough flour and thus became very sticky. Rather than neat, round balls, I had lumpy sticky blobs. My husband made our usual bolognese recipe in place of the marinara sauce, which made it extra high protein.

Glazed donuts – Wow, great recipe, and very easy. Unfortunately, I didn’t consider what I would do with approximately 20 donuts/donut holes, so I ended up driving a subsection of the donuts to my mom’s house for consumption. It was a delicious recipe, however – I used blueberries from the farmers market to make a blueberry glaze, vegan Nutella to make a chocolate hazelnut glaze, and then followed the instructions for a regular glaze.

Revisited Recipes

Pork with apples and onions – I liked this one more the second time around, since I knew what to expect when preparing it. I don’t eat a ton of fruit, so any recipe where I can sneak some fruit into my diet usually gets a second chance, and I was glad I did this one again last month.
