Net Worth Update: November 2024

Well, the tide has receded from the high water mark of earlier this month (at its peak, I think our invested assets reached $1.08MM) and we’re back under a million in invested assets again. This leaves us open to celebrating a second (or third! or fourth!) time as we cross over that number, so it’s not all bad. The champagne and 24 month aged gouda we had was delicious and I would happily indulge again.

Ouch. Not a great month for people who like to see numbers go up. Our savings did its usual ebb and flow, but homes are starting to languish on the market a bit here and the results of that are starting to flow through the Zillow and Redfin estimates. Despite contributing $7,723 to our retirement accounts this month, they only appreciate ~$300. “Stocks on sale!” (if that’s your thing) or “Buying more shares for the same amount of money as before!” (if you prefer). On the plus side, the finish line is finally near for that 0% Home Depot credit card (two more payments!!) which I am very much looking forward to.
